No more "Behind the Wheel" Applications will be accepted for this session.

General Information
Any student who may be interested in taking "Behind the Wheel" at OLHS for the 2007-08 school year can only apply through January 31st, 2008; unless at a later time more applications are needed to fully enroll open classes.
Students beginning the 6th session (10 total) of "Behind the Wheel" will begin February 1, 2008 and February 4, 2008. Any application received between January 24, 2008 and January 31, 2008 will be added to the list for consideration beginning February 5, 2008 through February 15, 2008. Criteria considered will be age, blocks requested, date the application was received, am/pm, or alphabetical order of last name. Sessions 7, 8, 9, and 10 will then be contacted by telephone and offered available times until all classes are full through the end of the 2007-08 school year. A list will be posted in several areas of the school to let students know who was accepted. Students and parents can then make their own decisions to:
- Try to get in summer school "Behind the Wheel."
- Wait until 2008-09 to put in a new application at OLHS.
- Take it privately.
This method will eliminate the waiting and guessing game students and parents have had to play in the past . . . . "Where am I on the list?" . . . . "When will I be called?"
Realize we have a HUGE number of students who need "Behind the Wheel" but we cannot provide this class to all of them each year. As of November 1, 2007, state law mandated that only two students could be in the car at a time with one teacher. Two students per block, three blocks per day, 12 students per session (6 on "A" day and "B" day), five more sessions for 2007-08. Also, each VBCPS high school has one "Behind the Wheel" teacher. Each Beach high school can service 60 students from February 1, 2008 through the end of the 2007-08 school year.
